Job Description:

The Certified Nurse Assistant performs direct patient care, such as: bathing, oral care, feeding, ambulation, and vital signs. Other duties may include inventory, documentation, clerical, dietary, light-housekeeping, and computer input.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Completion of CNA program
  • CNA registration/license BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) Certification

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
  • Collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of ZERO TOLERANCE for mislabeled specimens.
  • Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
  • Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assists in patient/equipment preparation.
  • Performs follow-up actions as directed.
  • Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient’s record according to hospital protocols.
  • Monitors and records patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL’s, I&O, activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care and notifies.
  • RN/physician of abnormalities.
  • Records readings in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Completes hospital forms per protocol.
