  Job Description: The Patient Transporter I transports patients to and from various areas of the hospital in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety practices and customer care standards. Qualifications: Education
  • Hight school diploma/ GED is required.
Certifications
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association. *Can obtain within 30 days of hire.
Responsibilities:
  • Greets and assists patients and their parents prepare for transport.
    • Contacts a patient’s nurse, care area or technician before transport; ensure paperwork is complete; check the patient’s ID band against the transport order verifying the medical record number and patient first and last name.
    • Provides friendly, caring, and age-appropriate transport of patients to and from all areas of the hospital in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety practices, and customer care standards.
    • Using appropriate methods, escorts discharged patients, their parents and belongings to the discharge or circle drive. Assists the parent in moving the patient from wheelchair, wagon, or stroller to the vehicle. Assist in loading luggage and opening doors.
    • When transporting patients, ensure they are properly covered and not exposed by providing a blanket, sheet, or towel.
  • Work closely with patient care areas to coordinate efficient patient transport needs across multiple areas. Maintains, visually checks, cleans, and inventories transport equipment. Notifies supervisor of service and/or maintenance issues. Assist clinical personnel in the transferring of patients to and from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers requested.
  • Participates in a variety of department and hospital sponsored educational programs to maintain skills and competencies.
  • Provides excellent customer service to both patients and employees. Works as a team by showing courtesy, respect, professionalism, working to cover departmental staffing needs, and meeting departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Job Description: The Patient Resource Tech has a range of responsibilities that support patient care and hospital operations. When working as a Patient Sitter, the staff member provides round-the-clock coverage and keeps a close eye on the patient for any issues they might be experiencing. Their main priority is to ensure the patient's safety while they are in specific areas of the hospital. When working as a Transportation Aide, the staff member assists in moving patients, equipment, and supplies within the hospital. They also fill out necessary forms to track transportation tasks and help the department restock supplies and set up for the day. When working as a Hospital Entry Screener, the staff member's role involves greeting and screening individuals who enter the facility, such as patients, visitors, and employees. The screening process determines if they meet the requirements for entry into the facility, following guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the hospital's policies. Qualifications:
  • High School diploma/GED is required.
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English with clarity and comprehension.
  • Competent in technical procedures including but not limited to obtaining, recording and reporting vital signs with accuracy.

  • Cleans bays as requested.
  • Locates wheelchairs, IV poles and gurneys to ensure availability of transportation equipment.
  • Cleaning of equipment using proper cleaning chemicals and cleaning techniques.
  • Cleans wheelchairs, IV poles, carts and gurneys in between assigned tasks.
Hospital Entry Screener
  • Follows CDC Guidelines and hospital screening process, including but not limited to taking body temperatures via use of thermal or other thermometer, asking pre-identified questions, and following pre-determined algorithm.
  • Determines whether an individual is suitable for entry into the facility.
  • Completes and maintains legible, timely and accurate documentation, including but not limited to employee medical information.
  • Ensure patient privacy and employee confidentiality are always observed.
  • Ensures a safe hospital environment by utilizing appropriate resources, protocols, procedures, and communication to appropriate personnel.
  • Demonstrates proper judgement in decision-making and determining when situations need to be escalated to security, nursing, or Employee Health/Human Resources.
